it takes its name from the initials of our founder & the ancient city of Turkey, Phocaea, Foça.

our origin story:

phocaea: (Ancient Greek: Φώκαια, Phókaia; modern-day Foça in Turkey) was an ancient Ionian Greek city on the western coast of Anatolia. Greek colonists from Phocaea founded the colony of Massalia (modern-day Marseille, in France) in 600 BC, Emporion (modern-day Empúries, in Catalonia, Spain) in 575 BC, and Elea (modern-day Velia, in Campania, Italy) in 540 BC.

The Phocaeans were among the earliest in the world to make and use coins as money.

It is known for its historical heritage including the Temple of Athena, Siren Rocks, and Temple of Kybele, some even think one of the islands around was the infamous home of Circe.

Phocaea is on the UNESCO World Heritage List as an ancient city.

The name Phocaea has the origin of the Turkish word “Fok”, which means Seal.

The ancient city looks the way it appears on the image :)
